Tata Motors is working on a brand new premium hatchback which is currently codenamed X451. This car will be competing with the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the Indian market.
Tata Motors is also firming up an aggressive blueprint for the Indian market. The Tiago has been a major success for the company and it is hoping to repeat the feat with the Hexa MPV and Nexon compact SUV. The X451 represents Tata Motors’ fresh attempt at taking the premium hatchback segment by storm. The previous attempt with the Bolt did not quite work out for the company.
The X451 will showcase the company’s IMPACT design language which has already worked wonders in case of the Tiago and Hexa. The X451 is reportedly being developed by the company’s design studios in India, UK and Italy. The car will get the new Advanced Modular Platform and this same platform will also be used for developing a mid-size sedan to take on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City among other rivals in the Indian market.
Tata X451 Features
The new hatchback is expected to have a plush cabin along with a touch screen infotainment system and multifunctional steering wheel. The X451 premium hatchback will also get both diesel and petrol options. There will also be automatic and manual transmission options on offer while prices should range between INR 5-8 lakhs on an average.
