The Maruti Swift has been one of the most popular hatchbacks in India and received a handful of updates in its more than ten years on sale in the country. The Maruti Swift is all set to get another complete makeover and is due for the global debut early in 2017.The highly-anticipated 2017 Suzuki Swift will have its world premiere in March 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show, according to confirmed reports. Reports also suggest that the new generation Maruti Swift and Swift DZire will be manufactured in the company’s new plant in Gujarat. Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent company of Maruti, recently invested $970 million on the second production line at the Gujarat plant.
The company has already started testing of the new model and leaked images and spyshots have revealed many details of the car. The exterior of the 2017 new Swift features a hexagonal grille with angular headlamps. In profile, the most noticeable change is the position of the rear door handle, which is placed on the c-pillar, similar to the Chevrolet Beat and Mahindra KUV100. The floating roofline looks attractive and the wraparound taillights add freshness to the rear, too.
New Maruti Swift 2017 Interiors and Features
Along with major changes to the exterior, the new 2017 Maruti Swift will get a new cabin as well. As per leaked images, there will be an all-new three-spoke steering wheel audio and Bluetooth controls mounted on it. Other major changes include a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system, new HVAC controls with circular vents and climate control with integrated digital displays. The Swift’s cabin will also get a new colour theme and will feel more premium than the model it replaces.

Based on the same platform as the Baleno, the new 2017 Swift is said to be 100kgs lighter than the existing one. The European model is likely to be powered by two Boosterjet petrol powertrains. While the 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine will continue to be offered, the more-powerful Swift Sport, also sold abroad will likely come with a 1.4-litre engine. However, Indian-spec models will be powered by the same1.2-litre K-series petrol and the 1.3-litre multijet diesel engines. With the considerable reduction in the kerb weight, the new Swift is expected to have better power to weight ratios and offer improved mileage.
