KTM has launched the much awaited Duke 250 in India at INR 173,000. The Duke 250 will sit between the Duke 200 and the Duke 390. The Duke 250 is powered by a 250 cc single cylinder 4 stroke, which delivers 30 PS and 24 Nm mated to a six speed transmission with slipper clutch.
The 250 doesn’t get the all-LED headlamp or the TFT colour display like the Duke 390. Instead, it comes with a simpler unit that’s similar to the one on the 200. It gets black alloy wheels as against the orange ones on the 390 and 200.
The KTM Duke 250 will rival the Bajaj Dominar 400, Mahindra Mojo, Honda CBR250R and the Yamaha FZ250.
The suspension of the Duke 250 comprises of WP Upside Down forks up front and WP Monoshock at the Rear. Built on a lightweight tubullar trellis frame that has a bolt-on sub-frame, the bike however doesn’t get dual-channel Bosch ABS. ABS continues to be offered only on the Duke 390. It is also the first motorcycle in its segment to feature Slipper Clutch.
The KTM Duke 250 features sharp tank panels, sleeker tail, aggressive fuel tank with large extensions, exposed trellis sub-frame, etc. The new Duke 250 measures 2,002mm in length, 873mm in width and 1,274mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 1,357mm. The bike comes with a seat height of 830mm, which is 20mm more than the previous model. It has a ground clearance of 170mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. The KTM Duke 250 has a fuel tank capacity of 13.4-litres.
